Mindfulness Learning and Practice

Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) is an evidence-based 8-week programme developed by the Oxford Mindfulness Foundation (United Kingdom), a globally recognised organisation in mindfulness teaching, training, and research. Originally designed to support individuals with repeated episodes of depression, MBCT has been further adapted into Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for Life (MBCT-L). MBCT-L builds on the original framework to offer practical applications for the general population, acknowledging that everyone encounters challenges at various stages of life.

MBCT-L combines Cognitive Behavioural skills and mindfulness practices, offering immense potential to alleviate suffering and help individuals realise their true potential. It fosters the development of a valuable skillset, enabling individuals to navigate their internal landscape with resilience, regardless of external circumstances. This approach opens up opportunities to create a new way of living, grounded in greater compassion, joy, and wisdom.

Our mindfulness learning programmes are led by Dr. Thurkadevi Munikanan, a psychiatrist and trained teacher certified by the Oxford Mindfulness Centre. The offerings include 8-week courses and the Day of Mindfulness (DOM) on MBCT-L, conducted under the supervision of associates from the University of Oxford Mindfulness Centre, UK. Dr. Thurkadevi has been associated with the Oxford Mindfulness Centre since 2018 and is deeply committed to the transformative benefits of mindfulness in navigating everyday changes and challenges.
